Had to pull this one up to check and yes indeed..........

I met this guy in the lineup today....surfing the same spot as the video....waves were overhead though so the lineup was thinner....he got a lot of waves, took them pretty well, but still waited his turn as much as anyone else, never dropped in and had a good vibe about him....I stuffed him when he paddled for a wave and missed then paddled right across my face to get deeper for the next wave coming and paddled again....I figured it was my turn since he'd just missed his prior wave and faded him in a paddle battle....plus I kinda wanted to pull the cat's tail so to speak....nothing but a smile when I got back to the lineup and another one with a wave when I saw him in the parking lot later..........competent surfer who got a bum rap from that video from what I saw today.....must have had some other issue going on that didn't make the video because he definitely wasn't "that guy" today.....

Most likely, the black rider simply just learned what he did was not good and doesn't drop in on that local ( or others ). Lesson learned, no blood no foul.

Probably the main learning for the black rider is that the local is one of many idiots that are out there, as they are in live. The local's behaviour is pathetic. Looking at his agressive behaviour, how do we know he was not a bullying wavehog before, and that maybe the black rider just did a misconstructed attempt to disctance himself from that a**e? And the black rider was on his feet way before the local, who looks to be more hunting than trying to surf the wave.

I feel that if you surf like that guy you probably shouldn't be pushing anyone off a wave.

I'd eat up that all day. Just surf behind him and enjoy the best part of the wave. When it comes time for a speed run where they might be in your way buzz em and let their nerves do the work for you. Never pushed anyone off a wave but I have pushed board noses back over the ledge when there's an impending drop in.

That's a good closure to this thread, I think :D
