Can I duckdive this board?

Postby surfingsocal1201 » Fri Jul 29, 2016 11:41 pm

Hi all,
I'm having trouble duckdiving a 6'8'' x 20-21 inches wide hybrid board.
I am 5'10 145 pounds and I was wondering if it is possible at all to duckdive this board because eskimo rolling wastes a lot of my energy. Thank you! :D

It will be a shallow duck dive, more like duck dipping. A good duckdive goes deep enough under to escape the turbulence of the broken wave. To get your board deep under water, next to the right technique, u need enough body mass in relation to the floatability of your board.

Also hybrids carry a lot of volume in the wider nose, that makes it harder to push down then a board with the same overall volume but a narrow and thin nose.
