Not bothering to disentangle your arm from your leash before another clean up wall hammers you.
Attempting an angled takeoff on a longboard and then deciding, way too late of course, to pull out of the wave, then finding yourself off your board perpendicular to it at the top of the breaking wave, and going over the falls with your board horizontal in front of you. Not fun.

Holding your board sideways in front of you when going out through the surf.....I never did that one.....well at least not in the last 40 years
