Can I surf this?

Postby bjarkelindso » Sun Jun 26, 2016 4:47 pm

Hi there everyone,
I've been so hooked on surfing that I want now bought a second hand board, to try to surf some danish waves.
However, I've come in doubt whether I actually can use the board that I bought, because it appears that there's been attached somethings too it which looks like foot straps for wind surfing. But it's a BIC Mini Malibu 7,3 feet.
Can you help me out - will this work as a "normal" mini malibu despite the holes, and what are they for? I cannot find a similiar board online.
I assume that I can wax or add a traction pad. Is that right?
Cheers from a beginner
Bjarke

I suspect it may have been used as a kite surfing board, although I can't figure out what some of the insert blocks are doing where they are located. So it is a bit odd

Anyway, if you now own the board I guess you have to at least give it a go. I suggest checking to make sure it's all waterproof and maybe even filling in the holes with some resin (leave the insert blocks in place but squirt down some resin). Then cover with traction pads - don't know if wax will stick v well to the plastic (although I've never tried since usually you don't have to cover up plastic)

Love it! Buy first, ask questions second. Sarcasm aside, I've Kelly Slater surf on an acoustic guitar and a door. I've seen Laird Hamilton surf an office chair. So, I reckon you can, Bjarke!

It's a BIC, they don't make sailboards. Just make sure the holes are waterproof
