Help a newbie buy a used surf board

Postby muramasa » Mon Jun 06, 2016 7:19 am

Hello, i'm looking to own my first shortboard, I live in a town 2&1/2hr drive from the closest legit place to surf (shout out to Tofino for being an amazing place).
Im looking through craigslist and luckily stumbled across a good surf board. (link below) https://nanaimo.craigslist.ca/spo/5535597727.html
Im ever so much interested in the Lost Psyco Ward, though i have no idea what the cost of a board like that is used. I'm thinking to haggle as low as 280$ CND. It'd be awesome for those experienced riders to tell me how much they'd spend on a used Lost Psyco Ward, much appreciated for reading this far, thank you.

Well before we go into the details of the board, let me ask a question... Why you want a shortboard if you are a newbie? This board will give you nothing except a lot of frustration due to inability to catch any waves.

It has been discussed on this forum probably thousand times. Read this thread first and may be you won't need to buy this board at all.

Why did these catch your eye? Have you had success with something similar? It is a serious question; why these boards out of all the boards available online?

We don't know anything about you or where you are going to surf other than you call yourself a newbie. Neither of those are newbie boards, cut and dried, regardless of how big or small you are, age, fitness, surfing experience, where you will surf or planned frequency.....all of which need to be considered and should be factors towards your board choice.

Stick around for a bit and share with us a little more.....plenty of guys better at giving board advice than me here who could sort you out pretty well if you give them some more info about you along with an open mind.

Hey Muramasa, welcome to the forum, and welcome to Tofino surf! My home break as well. How long have you been at it? Also, how often do you surf?
