Surfing in June (Europe)

Postby Reitschel » Sun May 15, 2016 9:06 pm

Hey! I wanna go surfing beginning of June somewhere in Europe or Morocco. Any recommendations? Where are good waves? Or is it not the best season for surfing?
Thanks a lot!

I've got limited experience mind, but, summer's not the best in Europe. I hear that south is the best though at this time, so I'd go to Portugal or France possibly if you want to go to Europe. Norway and Ireland at least will be mostly flat. It's the occasional day with good waves. Longboards for sure!

Morocco is good for surfing at the moment taghazout has some nice spots and safi is good for big wave surfing.
Other than that most coastal cities are good for surfing but not as good as our sweet spots ^

Went to Taghazout last January, was great - I'd recommend it, even for beginners :)

there's no guarantee for waves in the european summer, but we usually pick portugal or spain over france, because france is just one straight coastline, basically. and if the swell is small/bad direction, it's flat all along the coastline. (except the bretagne/normandie, but that's freezing :P )

personally, i'd recommend peniche/baleal in portugal, because it's got an impressive swell window overall. and although there are loads of surfers - mostly beginners - it's always possible to find uncrowded spots.

no experience with morocco. the canaries are nice though, and it's still kind of europe ;)

If you decide for Portugal, I made a website to help those who doesn't know where to surf in Portugal with today's or tomorrow's conditions.

It grabs today and tomorrow forecast, match it with each beach particular characteristic and gives you a score for each beach between 0 and 100 (where 100 is the best). It can even point you to the nearest beach, if you allow it to know your location.

No ads, no need to register, hassle free, mobile friendly, surfer promise. I made it to solve a problem I had, no to be rich or famous.

Give it a try at https://wheretosurftoday.com (or in short http://wtst.info). Since it only have spots in Portugal, you can use being somewhere else, but it will be pointless.

Catch some great waves.
