Mystery Dings.....

Anyone else get these? I had the ding fairy visit me 4 times this week on different boards.....got out of the water two days ago and as I'm wiping the board down before putting it in the car I see a coin sized hole and knee sized pressure crater.....I have no idea where or when during the sesh. A few other ones on other boards as well.....seems like if I look cross-eyed at a board this week it will ding. Using epoxy today!

And where are said dings ? On the deck, on the bottom, near the rail ? On one side only ?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.......everywhere. I even put one in the deck near the nose....no idea how that one happened.........

.....I mean I have an idea (beach break closeouts and reefs at mid to lower tides)....just can't pinpoint the action.....lots of tumbles, nothing stands out....nothing that when I came up I thought to myself that I need to check the board because I got whacked (save for the one that put an equal sized gash on my forehead and the board....that was the rail on the left as looking at it from the deck....was riding a left into a closeout and hit the lip too late).

Usually I know when they happen....a bump, jolt, hits me somewhere.....lately they've just been appearing. That's what a couple few weeks of inconsistent conditions will do I guess....

I move the boards around inside bags.....unbag them once I get inside the board room in the house or in the parking lot. Longboard is really the only one that I consistently whack on doors, walls, daughters and pretty much anything else in the area. So yeah.....mysteries.....

that's why I buy my boards pre-dinged and cover the rails with patches

We should start an Ugly Quiver thread....DBBB mentioned he's got some that would bring a shudder..... I have one that I was going to sell but three new dings in the last couple weeks and I figure it has to be worth more to me than anyone else....

I got some dings have no idea how in the bottom rails something like 2 inches before the the fins. Also some pressure dents right front of deck and where i place my front foot, and my board is epoxy:/

My latest mystery ding was from my 1yo baby boy trying his new teeth on the old board I used as a fence to keep him out of the kitchen..
