I would urge you to consider what it will look like when you are 70 years old!

Trust me here. I'm 57.

ALL the tattoos I thought about getting when I was about 20, in the Army -- they all suck.

I think about an iron cross, or hibiscus on the right shoulder. But it's six weeks -- SIX WEEKS, out of the salt water while the tattoo heals up.

I'll pass on that. Besides which, an iron cross or hibiscus are both going to suck when I'm 80.

Get what you want. Right now I have 17. Both of my arms are sleeved, my legs are both socked and I have some on my back and chest.

Yeah???

And when you're 50 -- and trust me, someday you'll be 50. You'll regret all the grafitti on your skin, and be resentful that firms won't employ you because you're a walking mural.

One more time here . . . I'm 57, an old hippie radical from the 60's. I was going to get some tats when I was about 20.

I think about tats and piercing even now. And decide to not do it.

Think about picking a decal that you want on your body for the next 100 years. You're a surfer now, but some day you may want to be an attorney.

Even easier -- pick out a bumper sticker you want on your truck for the next ten years. You can't do it. And you're going to dump the truck.

Tats don't cut it.

I'm a 57 yr. old pirate, surfer, living at the beach. Anything I would have tattooed when I was 20 would totally suck now.

Trust me on this.

Wave Junkie ...

No offence my man ..but there are two types of people that have tatoo's ..idiots that have it done for fashion and those of us that have a legitimate interest in the history of tattoo'ing and their meanings ...

are you trying to tell me that all the maoris and other tribes of the world suck ???!! ...

i appreciate what you say how people should think about how things look when you 60 ..but dude ... " why the hell do you care what people think of you when your 60 ???!! ... its a personal thing obviously !!
Im proud of my inks and their meanings and when i step in a kickboxing ring they sure as hell signify what their meant to
