are these waves just like a regular day for other places?

I live in San Diego and the waves don't get to big here compared to other places and was just wondering if insane days like this 1 week out of a year thing is a normal day say in Hawaii or Australia.

Blacks beach San Diego :)

Well not a normal day that is a real nice big wave day
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I gotta get down there. Bucket list for sure. Man, I miss warm water and Hawaii.

The good news about Indonesia, longer surf season , more consistent through the whole season, warm water and thousands of islands that have surf, virtually April to November..
Next bit pick your own island, range of prices from downright feral to 5 star, even some guests only breaks..
If you do go , try to choose a trip that gives back to the local community as fully as possible.

Looks like this was a set because many surfers were caught inside. So on a place where it regularly breaks this side there wouldn't be many people in front of the wave and your perspective would be totally different, it might make it seem smaller.
