Looking for Ins and Outs Film/Video Footage

Postby rororosasasa » Tue Mar 15, 2016 1:30 pm

Dear Surfers,

I am an artist and for my work I am looking for film/video footage of surfers surfing a wave going away from the shore (backwash?), like in The Endless Summer at Ins and Outs, Tahiti. I was wondering if anyone here could help me with that. Are there other surf movies that have scenes like that?

Thank you so much in advance!

I found this youtube
and this one

It's not ins and outs but different places
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

The Wedge has a pretty consistent backwash wave that skimboarders ride all the time. On big days a lot of surfers take off on it too. Just watch the Wedge videos on Youtube. I think you might find what you're looking for.

There are probably lots of footage of guys doing that. In Hawaii it is a common thing to run and try to jump into a just forming backwash to ride out a little ways. Once in about 50 or so times it can go pretty far out. I used to do this when I was younger. If you watch WSL coverage of surf meets on the North Shore of Oahu, you will see surfers doing this
