Advice for Surfing Vacation with young Brother?

Postby dobsoon » Wed Feb 24, 2016 4:12 pm

Hello Everyone,

could anyone of you surf gurus give me a piece of advice in my plans for a surf vacation for me and my 8- year old brother?

We want to begin catching the waves in middle of June till whenever, BUT we do not know where yet.

We would like to be somewhere surrounded by nice and lots of nature. The Spanish vulcanic islands like Tenariffe are the opposite of what I am looking for.

Living close to the beach is our main priority.

It does not matter where in the world.

We would appreciate any recommendation

Thank You!

What is the surfing skill level for the two of you? That matters much relative to the answers you may receive.

Hey Dobsoon,

Have you ever been to Southern California? There are plenty of ways to stay in state parks and be outside as much as possible as well as an impressive number of beginner friendly surf breaks. If that's an option I'd be happy to point you out a few suggestions.

Good luck!

Thank You for the response LiveSwell,

I intend to remain in Europe or Asia.(Atlantic and Indian Ocean). Would you have any recommended spots for these regions?

I appreciate the response Billie,

We both are beginners. we can stand on the board though not able to make turns yet.

Could you possibly recommend us any spots located in Europe or Asia?

Thank You

Sure, I have spent some time surfing in France, Basque Region, and Portugal. There are a number of very accessible beaches all throughout this southwest region of Europe and plenty of surf community to help assist you in direction, equipment and possibly even instruction if you are both beginners.

I would look into particular towns such as Hossegor, Lacanau, Biarritz and Anglet for France. Spain has a number of surfing villages but the most well known are between San Sebastian and Mundaka among many others. Lastly, one of the most well known and accommodating beach towns all the way down in Portugal is Peniche.

Good Luck!

I've been to Peniche and I love it. Been there twice now. Lots of surf school, good vibes and insane amount of breaks for all sort of conditions. The cost is pretty cheap and the people are friendly.
