You'll need to get off the beaten (surf) track to find uncrowded spots. There's plenty of them along the coast, but if you're surfing the Gold Coast, for example, you won't be surfing alone...
If you're travelling North to South, starting at the Sunshine coast, you can turn left and surf almost anywhere until you get to Melbourne. For surfing alone, central coast and south coast NSW is a good bet - plenty of spots and no people!
However, do take some time to surf at the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Gold Coast, Byron, and Sydney... absolutely jam-packed with crowds, but worth trying to get a wave or two for the vibe. Leave your impatience and frustration at home though
