Which board which board!!!!!!

Postby Starlit3000 » Sun Dec 27, 2015 4:45 pm

Ill get straight to the point. Im 5'8, 13st (about 178lb). I surf consistantly about twice a month, but aim to increase to about three times. Im still very much a beginner and im still falling off, though im managing to stay on much more now.
Ive been advised a 9'6 oshea malibu longboard, at the standard width and thickness for a 9'6, as longboarding is what i like. Also i know i need to be using the big volume boards in my beginner stage. I think the volume is between 72 & 80'sL.

However, ive just caught sight of the bic 9'4 super magnum with an epic 118L volume and 27" width.

Now whatever board i get im going to have for a while so i dont want to get the wide magnum if im not going to be able to turn well and progress etc etc because its too SUP like, but i dont want to go for the oshea and take longer to progress, when I'd have been better getting the bic.
So........
Should i get the bic?
Or
Should i soldier through with the oshea, then at least have a good longboard when i improve?
Or are either fine?

Oh... and i cant turn yet, so as youcan see... im still very beginner.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

You will most likely find it difficult to paddle a board that is 27 inches wide unless you have unusually wide shoulders so I would suggest you stick with the board you have for now.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

much appreciated. I think im over thinking it all. I should just go with my original plan and stick with the oshea.

If you are looking for better performance wider and bigger is not the choice.
