I like this.....shows a lot of mistakes....usually surfing videos are hyper edited, but this one has takeoffs from the wrong spot, shots of the same surfer again and again (pink board) taking off too deep, hung in the lip, dropping in....finally gets it.....

I can't sort the embed function on this video; maybe a mod can figure it or just leave it as a hotlink is fine too. Thanks

How fast is the take off - they have time for about 6 paddles and that's it - either they are in the exact right spot or....

I don't know if I would call it mistakes. They are feeling out the surf. Trying to figure out when and where to do what. Testing the waters so to speak. When the waves aren't perfect or you are unfamiliar with the break then you have to try some things to see where will let you takeoff (and where to sit in the lineup)and what the wave will do after you drop in. There seems to be 2 guys with pink boards one is probably Jamie O'Brien on a pink foamie and the other has a pink gunnish shortboard

Was down the beach one day on a day much like that video, about knee/waist high, and a bunch of teens who were all hyper active and good surfers were holding a 'barrel' contest and having a great time. Getting 'pitted' and 'covered' and 'tubed' and 'shacked' - according to them
