Surfing without being near the ocean?

Postby kyleisanoob12 » Sun Dec 06, 2015 7:48 pm

I live in the Midwest, so I'm not near the ocean at all. The closest thing near me would be Lake Superior, which is at 2-3 hours away. I live on a lake, but it's a very small one that can only have pontoons. There is another lake around 10 minutes away from my house that allows gas-powered boats and jet skis. Is it possible for there to be an extremely windy day to use a surfboard? Or could I ride on waves created by the boats/jet skis? I'm very desperate to surf lol, and I won't be able to move out near the ocean anytime soon due to being a minor.

Kyle one way is possible it leaves some elements of ocean surf out but does give you wave reading skills.
Get a good power boat and load with friends or sand bags to make a strong wake.
Get towed in as per wake boarding into the wave on your surf board, when you get it right let go of the rope and ride the wave!

We used to do that on flat days, you won't learn pop up or catching waves but you will be an early start in riding the face!

I sympathize with you but applaud your stoke! :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

There are motorized surfboards that can offer some surfboard riding. Windsurfing or kite surfing gets you some surfboard riding also.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Wakesurfing behing a motor boat is the best and easiest option for you. You can learn the basics of how to ride on the wave. It will never be the same as like in the ocean but gives you a lot of fun.
I am doing the same when I don't have that much time to travel. I am a landlocked surfer also.
