I nominate Oleg for two awards this year, frugality and stoke!

From one relative beginner to another: have you thought about a longer board instead of shorter? It sounds like you and the waves have plenty of power for shorter boards, but if you like them longer, maybe something more suited to your weight (like 9'6 +) would let you focus on control? Just a thought.

Longer board more nosediving!
And I don't like storage and transportation of nine footer! Even more does not my gf! And epoxy one will be quite pricey!
So, I am thinking about 8 foot torq board.

Is it durable enough?

Is the Torq board durable enough? Probably more durable than your relationship with your girl friend if you buy another board.

Post your results and dings with the next board.

Just a statement of fact , GFs and new boards are serious antagonists unless she surfs.
Be aware the majority of the world considers surfing a minor pastime not a lifestyle.

People who get bitten by the bug see otherwise = imminent and continuing culture clash

maybe you need one of these

http://www.surfersvillage.com/content/s ... dle-jumper

But, more realistically, a Torq board is as tough a board as you can find before going exotic.

Btw, thinking 'nose diving' is thinking about things the wrong way. What actually happens is that you aren't paddling fast enough (or are in the wrong position) and the wave lifts up the tail of your board. This naturally causes your nose to dip - but its not the nose's fault, its the tail's fault (well, its your fault of course). In any case, getting a shorter board doesn't change the outcome; its incorrect to think that getting 'rid' of a foot of nose give you less chance of nose diving. It doesn't really make any difference; you can nose dive on a 6ft board just as easily.

What you need to fix is your paddling speed and perhaps wave positioning. Paddle speed may be related to your body position on the board - if you are too far back on the board, the tail drags and you go slower. Nose diving is a pretty common thing for beginners but its actually fairly easily fixed - just read up around this forum for ideas.

Oleg the surfboard preservation society has asked me to ask you to have someone video you surfing from the beach. Way too many boards are being damaged, so a video would be helpful in correcting what is otherwise causing harm to innocent boards.

There are a lot of threads about perling ( nosediving) have a read of them. I don't quite get whether you are just riding white water or have progressed beyond that.

How you manage in catching the waves, your pop up , whether you ride the face or not, all unknown to us!

I have a couple old GoPro videos on my foamie filmed more than three months ago.

Then I lost GoPro in the Ocean and all the new videos shot with a new Gopro were deleted.

With a foamie I did ride whitewater waves occasionally. More as an exception than a rule. In poor conditions. Never whitewater with the hard one.

Try paddling with an alternate arm stroke and see if you can get yourself into a smooth gliding paddle.
Your current paddling makes me want to,sing Creedence clearwater's Proud Mary.

You seem to be going ok across the white water there, but some open face riding would be good to advise you on!

I almost didn't recognize you with the sunnies

Wipe out! It broke three boards! There was quite a puzzle to pick your board part! A guy paddled for twenty minutes for smd's else board nose.
So, I just swam for my life to the shore. In a little while, A lifeguard brought the second part of the board.

I've got one of those

And this one is designed to be carried in two parts for air travel so comes apart and goes in its own travel bag and is a good average all round longboard.
