cramps are hilarous-they invariably occur at critical moments and end in you getting a beating, just love it when your paddling and you toe just bends on its own, crazy!

what i really hate, are people who just litter the beaches, and then when you surf out in the water some of the trash is out there................. WTfffffffff is peoples problem, no respect for the ocean, they think its a huge garbage dump. big brand name surfboards too...i hate it, they say they're not in for the money when they are. Magazines, i respect the magazines writing articles on places, but dont give it away. come on what are they thinkinggggg.

Overcrowded waves.... :( I'm not very good at manoeuvering (or spelling it by the looks of things  ) yet so miss out on waves if there are too many ppl around me.

Also thinking there are great waves, getting to the beach and finding it's pretty crap and messy.

Yeah, I often get cramp in my left calf and have to attempt to balance sitting on my board while stretching my leg out to get rid of it... Normally does the job though. :)

Another thing is having to be sitting at work, watching your local beach on webcam where there a gorgeous, clean 2-3ft waves rolling in after a 2 week flat period and like one guy out there!!! Better still be good by 6pm or I won't be happy!!!

the worst thing is that my local beach's waves suckkkkkk. so i have to drive an hour to get some good swell. and then if that beach sucks. i'm screwed. my local beach is in a bay type thing, so we never get waves unless theres a hurricane. i hate it.

Oh yeah, and when leashes get tangled round your ankles.
Its always the wave of the day, just as you're about to pop up and pull into a barrel (or so you tell yourself..) and you find you're surfing with your feet six inches apart

drowningbitbybit! i know that feeling! and littered beaches are just the worst, along with polluted water, surfing with person poo is just not nice, wave comes in front of you, its like 3 inches high but the fear is even more than in big waves as you see these little brown lumps flying towards you  :(

gulfsurfer, i get what u mean about people thinking they need brand names... but idk, i feel like im one of them but i dont.. haha u tell me -

Im like a perfectionist, and i would hate to have a local shaped board lets say idk a 'smith'... i would feel like that board is xxxxx compared to kids next to me having 'one of the best shapers' boards such as merrick or w/e.. im basically what u hate, but idk i think its a lil different for me.. because if i wasnt such a perfectionist in some ways and i knew the 'smith' was just as good i would get it, but it seems like i would be so much more comfortable with a merrick.. which is why thats what i want.. idk

what i hate - walking my board on the beach to the water with one arm all pimp (haha) and the wind blows hard and i gotta put my other on and struggle my ass off just to keep going straight haha.. ive had times where i had to like spin towards the sea because the board would be blowen left cause of the wind so i kept going with that spin itd blow again but id make progress hahahaha

Yep. I usually go surfing before night class so when I'm in class I look like the swamp thing.

another one is messy conditions. I'm so much worse at surfing when it's the combination of messy and relatively big cos I rarely feel safe to go outback on my own so land up getting pummeled by white water. :( When I do brave it and go outback I generally feel out of my depth so I have to compromise and just have a laugh in what I can get further inshore.

I love it all !!

The cold , the crappy waves , the pollution , the litter , the localism , the near drownings , the five hour round journey , the traffic jams ... the list goes on and on as we all know !
But these are the things that make you sit back and question why you do this .... and i know we all come up with the same reason ... " You lovez it and you knowz it " !!!!

Every time you go out ..good or bad day , you are sat directly on top of everything that made this world and unfortunately everything that could destroy this world if we dont stop abusing our planet ..... but there is nothing 'bad' down there ..there are some scarys down there but nothing bad so you would have to be soul-less not to get a good vibe , an unexplained vibe sometimes but you def' know that it is good for whatever reason !! ...

Heres a nice lil'hypothetic thought for ya ...

Jesus was a carpenter ... Jesus was seen to be walking on water at some point in his life ...
" dude might have just simple and plain made a surfboard  " ??!!!!

"LOL ...and no references to good ol'Roy to be added after this post lolol

Peace and love all ... CheeZer

True Cheezee, we all say we hate things, but we love it really.

Here's something which I 'hate':

You've driven the 5 hours to the beach and the waves are about 1 ft and messy.

But you STILL get changed in the cold wet car park, you STILL paddle out, you have a crap time, cos you only catch 2 waves and neither of them have the power or face to be worth it, but you STILL went in....

... why?...

... because you'd driven all that time to get there and you HAVE to get your fix - even if it IS really crap and not worth the effort!!

Gotta love that!!
