New member, about to move to San Diego

Postby SteveinNY » Wed Oct 28, 2015 9:14 pm

Hello. I am a 58-yr-old surfer presently in NY, via Florida, Mississippi, and North Carolina. I've been riding waves since I was too young to remember, and surfing since about 13. I made the switch to a longboard when I hit 40 (a present from my wife), and haven't ever regretted that! I'm moving to San Diego in Dec to work for the Navy on Point Loma and would like to meet some older surfers like myself who might be willing to show me the ropes of surfing in the area. I've been using Google Earth to check out all kinds of great looking reef breaks off the west side of Point Loma, but I guess getting down to the water is a problem in most places. I won't be able to bring my board with me when I move, so if anyone is looking to sell a decent longboard, please let me know. I'm also looking for an affordable room to rent through at least next May, when I hope my wife will be able to move to SD. Shoot me an email at beacon1b@yahoo.com if you want to chat. Thanks.

Oh no, I just sold my longboard at SD 2 months ago. If you surf a longboard then you should also try Old Man's at San Onofre! I was there every single day once I found out about that spot.
