Is this ding severe?

Postby SandDude » Sun Oct 18, 2015 7:30 am

Hey guys
When I got out of the water and I came to wash my surfboard I hit my board against a wooden pole(accidentally) and I found that there is a small chip in the board. Now I'm not sure if it is severe or not but it is on the nose of the board and usually the nose can break easily if you're not careful. The chip is roughly the size of a seed but it is deep enough that I can see the under lying layer of the board so I'm guessing tha salt water can get to the layer beneath the board.

My board is custom-made and is made of fiberglass. I took a couple of photos for you to see. Sorry the quality is a bit off. Should I fix my board or can I do it myself because of its size? If so what equipment do you need to repair your own board? Thanks

Severe? No. Requires fixing? Yes.

Just get yourself a standard ding repair kit and follow the instructions - dead simple to fix.
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

You should probably know what kind of resin your board is made of to buy the ding repair kit. Since it is the nose glassing should be involved or it will be easily shattered
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
