All boards have foam of some sort, water is injurious to most foams.
If you mean a soft board then that applies there too.
Best to post a picture of the damage and we can help.
Water can be almost sudden death to certain types of board and seeing the board will also help us advise you on how to repair the board. A mistake could dissolve your board.
pictures are important!
If it is brand new take it back to the dealer for them to sort it out!

When you post below the box you are writing the post in is a blue box saying upload attachment click that if you have a photo prepared on your desk top or tablet. Below the blue box is another. Saying choose file click that , browse comes up look for your files name click open. The name of the file appears click either add the file or if a tablet click place in line, if you have to use the add the file choice then click place in line.
Be aware there are size limits on picture so I post mine at no more than 2000 pixels in width.
Hope that helps

Hopefully you kept the card board box the board came in. Try to see if the puncture lines up with a hole in the box. Sad, thing is you need to put in a claim with the shipper. The place you bought it from might not really care or you'll need to pay return ship fees. Is the damage on the deck side ?
