Hey I didn't know that toko, is it on the right side when heading Ulu or left? Cannot look around to much in this traffic

I was at Ripcurl sunset last week, but they didn't have the Submoon for testing, not for selling too all sold out in all other shops too they said. I didn't ask for any other Firewire longboard tester, I should have. I like the idea of a lightweight longboard, after trying some heavy logs at Batu Bolong. It's just an idea though, need to try to find out i guess.

They have a couple of Addvance 706 for testing, that could be interesting too, almost 70 liter!

Maybe that's the story with the weight, to make it work in choppy conditions. That would mean u need clean (pagi pagi) conditions for the lighter longboards. Tidak apa apa

It's on the right....big store, two stories stand alone with the name painted on the side in huge letters....can't miss.

70 liters......that's a lot....my longboard is only 70something......

Just did this diy calculation for ideal longboard volume. Interesting!

The Addvance is made for old guys who want to ride relatively shorter boards but need a bit of extra volume

The volume related to weight in the Inter. / Adv column looks strange, the volume jumps up and down. All others increase volume with weight, what's logical. I'm under 75kg so started with 31.5l.

According to that scale I should immediately go out and order an American aircraft carrier!

My thoughts on volume, only a recent thought process in surfboards, consider differences in construct. Laid on top of volume, two similar volume boards with different foam , EPS v PU density of glass, density of rider, PU foam just the foam density can blow the need for volume out of the the water!

Next pimple faced sales teen who tells me what volume I should ride will be subjected to PPPPPHt but then I don't buy store boards

Sure, it's an oversimplification there are many variables that define a board. Still, it can give u an idea of the well, erhm, volume of the board..

Thanks, I particularly liked the Surfoutlet article, very informative. Strange to find the most informative article on longboards on a site that doesn't sell any...

I'm leaning towards a lightweight epoxy board, but must find a balanced rockerline. I'm afraid a pure performance lb rocker kills paddling ease. So maybe more looking for an allrounder.

I'm still very much interested by an 8/2 Submoon (60l) but must wait for stores to restock. Also I would prefer a testride first. Anyway, not in a hurry, just enjoy looking at boards

I saw this 8'6" Ben Aipa board in a shop the other day, guys in the shop have no idea and cannot find much info online on it.

It looks to me a board for better waves up to 6ft Hawaiian maybe. I'm not sure if it will paddle me well with this rocker and thinned tail. Any thoughts?

Edit: I forgot to mention it has the 5 finboxes for FCS or Futures.

Try this contact link,
rich@alamoanasurfboards.com
Alamoana surfboards are selling Ben Aipa's boards and probably can give you information or a further link. :D

Try searching Ben Aipa Big Boy Sting. Also check out videos of "Buttons" riding the Sting. He was Kelly before Kelly.

Hahaha.....so you DID find Board Lab.....that rack on the second floor is full of different Aipa boards...good size and good float on them, different than most of the smaller boards you see in shops around here but look like they would be at home on a lot of the breaks here, esp. Ulu's, Nusa and Canggu surrounds....probably be fun up in Balian and Medewi too... :)
