I SCREWED UP MY HYPTO KRYPTO! Help!

Postby EatinHerbusch » Thu Aug 27, 2015 6:41 am

About a few months ago I got a brand new hypto krypto and took it out for a few sessions and it was so fun. But I noticed an extremely small crack, so I went to Home Depot and bought this Loctite 2n1 Marin Epoxy to fix it. Except, I put a lot, thinking I could just sand it down no problem. But then it dried and hardened into this ugly shade of brown. Basically I was able to get some off, but I don't want to sand it off cause I might damage the board further. I tried covering it with a big sticker but it came off pretty quickly after three sessions, leaving behind the sticky paper part. How can I fix my board without destroying it? Would I need to take it to a shop or could I do it my self? Thanks you so much and your help would be much appreciated?

Take it to a professional. You sound like me, meaning not so good with the hands and fixing/building stuff. Time to confess and give someone $75 bucks to fix your new board. I bet when you get it back you will be happy you did. Sometimes saving a nickel cost you a dollar. lol

Epoxy resin is so hard. Takes a lot of sanding compared to polyester resin. I think careful use of the right power tool is the way to go and a pro would be the one to have doing it.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

These guys do good products, i've used the Dura Resin which works on both PU and PS/EPS which is good for quick/small fixes in sunlight, and the PS repair kit, drys super clear. They do PS/EPS(Epoxy) kits too.

Cracks i find are tricky to fix, i usually just rub some resin over any i'm worried about and give it a quick sand, or you could V the crack and then fill it.

I bought a board in Bali and within a week i ripped the fin box out on the reef, took a chunk out of the tail and then crushed the nose between a door, and more. This was my first new board i bought and by the time that all happened i understood how it goes ha.

Thank you to everybody who responded, I will definitely take it to the shop because that seems to be the consensus.
