Fins

Postby captaincockers » Thu Apr 16, 2015 2:13 pm

Hello,

I looked through the message board but couldn't really find exactly the right answer, but sorry if this has kind of been answered before.

I just bought a 6´2 X 19 X 2 1/2 pukas shortboard, I used the same size board in portugal and it was fine until it broke.

Now I live in Barcelona which has pretty small waves (knee to shoulder height), I can basically just catch a wave and do a little turn and thats about it..

The board I bought doesn't have any fins, and I want some that will keep the board really stable while not holding my back too much as I practice turning.. whats the best type? My local shop has millions to choose from and its a bit mind boggling..

Buy the cheapest fiberglass fins in your weight specification.

If your board has FCS plugs, the standard all around fin is M-5. If your board has Futures Fins boxes, their standard all around fin is the F4. Save your money and just get the Bone colored plastic ones. In FCS they call them "glass-flex".

By the way, surfboards are very stable. The rider on it is the thing that makes it unstable.
