what is it - looks like a ray or something? I thought it was a shark at first and wondered why she kept holding onto the camera.

EDIT: its a manatee. They don't even eat people.

I was surfing a few weeks ago, sitting out the back, and the guy next to me said 'hey look down' and I looked and this massive ray, must have been 7ft across, was gliding underneath us at about 4ft depth (which looked about 2ft down because the water was so clear). Gave me a bit of a shock have to say. The two of us then watched as it swam down the line up and the surfers, one after another, all stiffened or jumped or pulled their legs up. Was pretty funny actually (of course, I had done exactly the same thing)
