Is my surfboard too small?

Postby jhall49 » Fri Apr 17, 2015 5:04 am

I am a beginner/intermediate surfer who just purchased a Mark Richards Super Twin (6'4'' x 19 3/4 x 2 5/8). I am a very active and in shape 23 year old, I weigh 170 at 6 feet tall. This past weekend I took my new board to get baptized in the chest high surf that was rolling in, but this board seemed a lot harder to paddle into and catch a wave with. I was just wondering if I need a bigger board or just need to stop sucking, haha.

If you are used to a longer board it will take a little while to get used to a shorter board. Come back and tell us about it after 10 sessions with it.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

question - Are you kicking with your feet vigorously ? At your height of 6' and the board length at 6'4" your foot probably are dangling off the back. On most longboards, that you probably learned on,you can't kick. But this board you need too to get into waves.

By the way, who sold /told you to get that board ?
