Kinda don't like it: 10 Best Surfing Spots in California

Kinda don't like that a news website posted the 10 Best Surfing Spots in California (link above). But, what can you do? At least all my bra's here on the forum can see one place I truly love. Advance through the program to Gaviota State Beach in Santa Barbara. For me, it's not only the State park, it is the entire 20-mile long Gaviota Coast. Many times I've shared with you about how pristine and beautiful this coast is. It is the last remaining undeveloped coastline in southern California. It's nature and geology at their best. Roxy the Ridgeback and I go here one day every week because we know it will not last. There is heavy pressure from high end realty developers. It's a shame. The pelicans, sea lions, and other wildlife do not see many people and are often curious. Many times, Roxy and I have miles of beach all to ourselves. In some locations, we rappel down the cliff face to access the beach. In other areas, there are short to long hikes down through draws and canyons. The fishing in this region is phenomenal. While I use a rod and reel from shore, some fishermen will dive with spears or simply to gather lobsters by hand. The surf is good, too, and has been enjoyed by locals for many decades. Best surfing access is by boat.

They obviously employed a junior intern journalist to write those lines about each spot, catastrophic apostrophe usage and great malapropisms like "be there at mid tide to avoid the offshore winds "????? :?:
Another beauty " general comment about the prominence of the Clifornian coastline making it one of the number one spots for killer surf. I'm amazed the journo didn't chuck in a "Cowabunga dude".

Gaviot park looks good, but how do the developers get their hands on a State Park? That would tragic!
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

Jaffa,
in the case of Gaviota, the state beach park occupies a mile or two of coastline. ThIs is a small portion of the entire Gaviota coast region. The park is safe from development. It's the remaining 18 to 19 miles of coast threatened by development. It may not turn into Las Angeles and Orange Counties where nearly every inch is built on. But, development will impact access even though law forbids that. It will also impact wildlife. On land, there are bobcats, mountain lions, bears, kites (a small rapture), tiger salamanders, terantulas, and more. At the water's edge, there's even an area where baby seals are born.

Now, whereas established parks are normally safe from develpment, Trestles surf break in northern San Diego County is under development threat (again!). Trestles is located within San Onofre State Park. It's a classic short board break thas been surfed for decades. For many years a transit authority has wanted to construct a toll road highway through it. True, southern California has tremendous traffic problems. But, not in this area. Previous design plans involved physical impacts to the river that feeds sediment to the shore that contributes to great surf conditions. Previous designs also placed road very close to the beach. This would impact the asthetics. San Onofre Park, as a whole, is a beautiful and tranquil park traditionally used by multiple famioy generations. It is common to see grandfathers teaching grandchildren how to surf.

Yeah California is like one big city along it's coast line. I was so suprized to find beach with no people there back in the 80's. I found a seagull tangled in some fishing line and netting and didn't have any sharp instruments to cut it loose. I was going to take it back with me when finally another car drove up and they had scissors. However I bet that place is all buildings now. It was on the south side of half moon bay.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
