Postby Jozsef » Thu Dec 04, 2014 4:44 pm

Guys, have a look at the forecast (MSW) on the 10th of December, next Wednesday at Inch beach co Kerry, Ireland. Anybody willing to get in the water that day?

At 28 feet the waves will block the wind pretty well. The faces will be smooth as silk.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

If that was here I would be extremely tempted but probably not unless it was really good???? I'm not sure, getting old in my old age.

No way in the world, the whole inch, will be a washing machine, 28ft 20 seconds, howling onshore winds in a long narrow bay.
I'm not quite sure what your mindset on riding big is, but for your own sake do it when conditions are ideal. Wednesday the 10th will not be ideal.
Remember this too the more water is moving in the waves to more water will moving in the rips and currents.
This is one genuine case where an Inch will take you a mile! :?

Once you reach 61 years old you have A G E (a good excuse) to not do anything you don't want to for any reason at all

We call that "kite flying" here. When the wind is so strong that it blows your board up the sky and it looks like you're flying a kite with your leash.

Waves that big will totally block the wind except at the top of the wave but paddling out would be the pits because the wind will be whipping spray into your eyes the whole way out and that can be pretty harsh. I went surfing one day when the wind was about 40 mph. The waves were just about 10 foot faces and breaking really nice although it was 40 mph onshore. I was the only one out (go figure because the waves were really breaking nice). Before I paddled out an old man (older than me I think) told me to be careful because it was big but it was just the usual size however difficult to just walk down the beach with a surfboard because of the wind. My eyes were so red and sore after that outing I almost went to a doctor to get them checked out but they got a lot better rapidly after getting out of the water.
