If it's not one thing, then it's just another

Still hopeless surf conditions here! A little bit of blown out windslop and that's all. To add insult to injury (does not being able to surf count as an injury?), the constant winds have meant that the water temp has plummeted from a balmy 25C to a cool 19C!

Cool 19C!? Man, I was practiaclly bathing in the 'warm' 17.5C water here in the weekend! haha. Warmest it's been in months! Soo nice when the winter got down to 14-15C!

I've done my cold-water surfing (8C water in UK winter... while it snowed) - I'm firmly a boardshorts and warm water man now

THE DROUGHT IS BROKEN.
 :surfing:  :mexwave: :surfing:

Nice clean conditions with a smallish swell today, so stuff work - went surfing instead 8)

Today was definitely the bambi-on-ice-skates session after two weeks without a surf.

Double underhead again, increasing to strong side shore winds , 250 Kitesurfers , sail boarders and SUPers hitting town for a mixed comp, been happening the last weekend of November for 33 years.
I'm elsewhere!
Might shot a couple before I go for Kitey :!:

In fact, today the sun isn't out, chucking it down... but the surf was pumping :D

Loads of waves this morning - I was a bit slow and stiff after a few weeks off, but plenty of green face time :surfing:

Surf was up but it wasn't sunny. overhead but windy choppy with huge backwash. I fell on the only cutback I attempted..........shucks I thought was over falling on cutbacks. Plus it was so cold.....like maybe 72 degrees :) Last week was really nice conditions but only head high max, mostly smaller and I didn't fall on my cutbacks but still I think I prefer bigger waves it makes it more thrilling.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

16 celsius today. Not to crowded compared to summertime. These photos are from Starboard that films waves daily in Shonan. http://starb.on.coocan.jp/

How does Shonan actually work - does everyone line up and wait for their turn at a wave? Or do you just catch a wave and go straight and let everyone else catch the same wave?

DTC - Hell NO ! it's kinda of like Black Friday sales after Thanksgiving. Mass Chaos. During the summer, 50 people paddle, 30 actually get on the front of the wave, 10 actually ride ( going straight banging rails the whole time ). That's not even mentioning the people waiting facing you in thigh-high water with the board fins facing you. When your just about on top of them, they spin around and jump onto their board on their bellies
Once I slotted in right on the take off, blew past 3 guys that had to pull back hard. Was told later not to do that cuz it doesn't allow them to enjoy their time at the beach. Of course it's the weekends that are ridiculous. But every foot after 3 feet the crowd thins out by half. At 6 feet it's pretty roomy.

If your the big boss of the area, you'll get your own. ( let's not talk about that right now )

DrowingBB - That's why I recommend soft boards in Shonan. Most of their boards cost $2000-3000. I go right at them and they pull back cuz they don't want a ding.
