Need advice on board purchase

Postby Konrad » Fri Nov 14, 2014 12:02 pm

Hi, I went to australia for about a moth this summer and i started to learn surfing, i was using a 7.6 pointy mini mal (might have been a super fish...) I eventually got quite a few waves and i can do some turns. Should i get a 7 -7.3 ft super fish or a 9ft longboard? I live in Norway btw

What are the waves like in Norway - ie if they are a bit weaker than Australia, then go for a longer board. I think a mini mal is probably an option as well, rather than longboard or fish.

I guess the waves here are a bit weaker then in australia, here`s the swell report for the where i will mainly be surfing http://magicseaweed.com/Bore-Surf-Report/1886/. I dont really want a mini mal, but i guess i could consider something 8ft?

Have a look at Surf NO. Surf Norway there is an. Ideal. a Green surfboard 7'6" minimal, that really would be good for your stage of surfing. I'd be curious as to why when Bore is a beach break. That you want a. Fish or another board , that shape looks pretty good. I would also be suggesting if you want to ride that size. Some boards in the NSP range, A Mactavish Sumo or a 7S super fish but I'm not sure of availability and supporting a local shop or even better a local shaper! If you are starting your surfing journey then getting a shaper would be nice.
Hit Tromso for me

I dont know if there is any local shapers around here, i will have to ask around about that. I found the green board, but it looks like only the 7.2 was in stock. Would a 7s superfish or a mactavish sumo 7.0 be just as good then? I will definetely go on a trip further north to Tromsø Sometime! :D

Judging by what I see of Bore, I would look at the 7'6'" in either the Sumo or the 7S superfish as they are good for that.
This is still a little bit of guess work because weI don't know how tall, how much you weigh and how old you are. all factors!

Happy to help, you can go pretty much in the range we discussed , you are young and fit and being in Norway you wll need to be determined to hold the Stoke over winter?
Were you an exchange student? I've taught some from Norway to surf before. Came from near Stavanger !
Keep us informed about your progress and your almost polar surf spots
