Legalize it??

Postby gulfsurfer » Tue Jun 21, 2005 2:58 am

Well, since they made medicinal mary jane illegal and i havent heard anyone talk about it on here, i thought id see what your opinions were.
I say legalize weed, i dont smoke, but ive seen way too many good people get in trouble for smoking herb.

I say legalise it.

In UK it has been decriminalised - pretty much ok to have a smoke at home as long as you're not dealing or growing loads. Police will only give you a caution if you are caught out and about with small amount on you for personal consumption. Dealers get hammered more tho.

I have had several periods when I did smoke weed, not in one at the moment tho. I think in moderation there is not much harm done. Right now in UK there seems to be a campaign telling everyone you get brain damage from smoking it, but what they ommit to tell us is that you have to smoke a 5h1t load of it for this to maybe happen. Basically too much anything is bad for you.

I think there is no doubt that its not good for your health but I hate all this sensationalisation of it in the media. I'd like to see them disclose the damage to a human done by spending a week in a big city and breathing in all the various fumes found in cities - or even a lifetime's worth  .

The reason I'm not smoking weed at the moment is because I don't want to, not because its illegal, and if it did get legalised tomorrow I still would not be smoking it - but it would be nice to have the choice of having a bit of a toke if the situation required it - much like having an alcoholic drink.

No no no, in my opinion legalizing weed will only make people move on to harder drugs.
You see, for the people who think its cool and rebelious to smoke weed, and get a rush from doing so, as soon as its legalized they 'rush' will disapear and they will begin looking for bigger and better highs, eg harder drugs. Which will only increase the, now more serious, drug problem in the country; not good for anyone.
Thats my view anyway :)

The main reason its illegal in the US is because they cant tax it. They could tax it if they sold it in stores, but alot of people would be growing so thered be no way to get tax money.
No no no, in my opinion legalizing weed will only make people move on to harder drugs.

You only have to go as far as you want. If some dumbazz is smoking weed and gets tired of it and starts shooting heroin, then its his fault, he shouldnt of gone so far. There wont be a whole lot more people doing harder s h i t just because weed is legal.
Legalizing it would stop ALOT of violence as well, cuz there have been tons of shootings and stuff because some stupid idiot gets ripped off buying weed and goes and kills the dealer or whatever.

if you want to smoke it its not hard to get hold of so why legalise it, it does lead to harder drugs theres no dout about that i started with smoking pot after a while moved on to other drugs

come on gulfsurfer you got to come up with a better argument other than it will stop people killing dealers becuse they got riped off

I can assure you that there will be plenty more people moving on to harder drugs than there are people getting shot by dealers 'or whatever'... :P
Also, Im reckoning legalizing it will cause MORE drug-related problems such as violence to be honest.

I have been smoking weed for about 3 years now consistantly and in my opinion it does not lead to other harder drugs. the reason i think people turn to other hardcore drugs is because its in there environment. Because if your a weed smoker you probably go through a street dealer whos intentions on selling weed is makeing money. and as you all no there is a potentionally higher amount of money to be made selling other hardcore drugs because the demand for these drugs are stronger due to the fact that they are more addictive. So allot of people are going to try these differant drugs in there envirnment because there freinds do it or whatever. Im completely satisfied with marijuana and will never turn to a harder drug. And i think that if weed is sold legally less people will turn to harder drugs because it will be removed from the street dealing environment, and crime will be reduced because the money people spend on weed on the streets goes to criminals pretty much. So yes on legalizing weed :D

It really makes no difference to me whether its legal or not because i dont smoke, but i know alot of really good people that smoke to relax just like people have a few drinks to relax and have fun. I can assure you that WAY more people are killed from alcohol then pot.

I agree that by legalising weed it takes the weed smoker away from the dodgy dealer underworld so is in fact less likely to result in leading people onto harder drugs.
But to be honest I really don't give a f**k about retards who decide they want to do smack and crack. Kind of like a version of natural selection, survival of the fittest and all that. Let em do what they want to do in their own environment but soon as they encroach into decent society they better be f*****g carefull!

" I would so love to get into this but .... im not going to otherwise i'll write a book on the subject because of my business !! "

My views are kinda global on this as i have been an activist on this subject for like 17yrs ..and 6yrs into owning a store that deals with every aspect of this subject on a daily basis ! :)

" happy to talk to anyone who has a question " .. medical , social , political all are welcome to either post me a private message or email :D .

I do not beleive in a " cannabis for all " policy but have very strong views on medical uses and how 'our plant ' has been outlawed for medical users so that the big corporate drug companies get a free run on experimenting on us all with under tested and expensive habit forming chemicals .

" oooh ... i sooooo nearly started then
