Stayed at the Arlington?

Postby peazz » Thu May 15, 2014 1:58 am

So, beautiful mellow swell for me to tackle is coming into devon over the weekend, with barley any wind and in the 11s + range, Ive caught up with work and want to be setting off in the next 12 hours.

Found a little hotel called the Arlington Hotel that is decently priced, Has anyone stayed here before? Reviews seem ok but from my own experience, reviews cannot be trusted as they can easy be faked.

Here is the tripadvisor page -> http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g191252-d279845-Reviews-Arlington_Hotel-Ilfracombe_Devon_England.html

Would love to hear if you have!

Looks like it's a nice place. You always have to take reviews with a pinch of salt, ready the good and bad then make your mind up. What would you have done before the internet? :-D

Have a great trip

I would of driven around and found one that looks half decent :D.

Im not paying the rates people want (or the crap rooms) that are closer to croyde / woolacombe breaks, I'm driving so the arlington seems ok :D

Board is packed, sorting my clothes and im off! so excited to get some surf but on the other hand i am kinda apprehensive about my back / hip.

Im either going to come away from the first surf with no issues or im going to come away crippled for the rest of the trip, either way im getting some surf :D

Ifracombe is a bit protected mate, like Lynmouth I imagine they are both winter only spots, but tbh I wouldnt want to surf in this bay far to many jagged rocks.

Woolacombe is just 5.5 miles away a short 10 minute drive and a variety of peaks for you to tackle. Here is a cheeky snap of me on Woolacombe before my first surf since Feb....Stoked..

Cheesy Grin :D

This board has now surfed, OZ, HK and now England, I wonder where else I can get it before it decides to snap on me?

Cheers mate (shame about the hair!), picked up a 5'3 O'neil superfreak, Perfect fit everywhere except for some extra under the arms around my rip cage to allow for some expansion and for my feet I picked up some flash bombs... Overall, I was nice and warm got a solid 3/4 hours in the water :)

Ended up going for the front-zip, My springy from oz was a fronty so already knew how to get into one and I liked the idea of extra flexibility from not having the back zip. Im pretty happy :)

Thanks dude ;)

EDIT: I duck dived loads and got next to zero flush, when I did it was actually a relief as I was so hot xD, 5'3 maybe a little thick but at least my out of shape body was kept warm
