Best place to learn surfing in Peru?

Postby Dymytry » Thu May 08, 2014 2:14 pm

Greetings guys!
At the moment I stay in Mancora. There is a good place to surf, but the problem is that its very crowded.. As a beginner I usually fail to catch a wave because 5 or 7 other guys go for it all around me :) So I think of moving to the south.

Could you recommend me some place in Peru which is suitable for the beginners?

I have heard about Lobitos. But not sure wether the surf spot there is located inside the town, or I have to make a car ride to it?

I have heard abour Chicama. But not sure wether I can meet the waves small enough for me to surf.

Something else?

Any advice highly appreciated.

The waves you mentioned are good waves suitable for already intermediate surfers, you'll be in the way and you won't learn to surf there, best place i can think of is Lima, in Miraflores, Makaha, there are plenty of surfschools and board rental, and the waves are perfect to learn, and since it's a city, tons of things to do and see.... if the you feel you want to try something a bit more challenging, try Punta Hermosa or San Bartolo.
