bali surf trip

Postby milkyjoe » Thu May 01, 2014 3:38 am

hey,

next month I'm heading bali bound with surf board in tow and looking for some advice for good places to stay.

I'd describe myself somewhere in between a beginner and intermediate surfer and was ideally looking to stay somewhere where they'll help me progress to linking my turns and catching those bigger waves.

I've done a fair bit of google research but found it difficult to identify places that cater us guys in the middle (not total beginer not shredder)

Thanks

I'd consider looking at Medewi, Balian and other spots west of Kuta or if you are having to stay and are looking at The Bukit then Dreamland, Bingin and the mainstay of beaches in the Kuta Legian area.
They won't be uncrowded actually cover in hordes at similar levels to you. But you can still get some wave time to your self especially if you hit it early mornings :D the drinkers and party animals are still recovering!
You need to able to handle yourself the is no lifesaving services except on the Kuta stretch.
You need to be able to handle strong currents and all aspects surf awareness.
have fun .it is a place you can have a good time.

I'd google surf medewi and see there is good cheap accommodation there. There are Losmen and home stays at Bingin and Dreamland and you virtually walk out the door at any of them. If you get your accommodation right they often have airport pick up with a driver stand there with a placard with your name on it to ferry you to your hotel.
Pick up a copy of this book it will be worth it as there are coupons and explanations of lots of surf spots. I've been going for years but I'm nver without a copy of this.
