Does that matter in any relevant way beyond your personal circumstances?

Why is this post here?
Why would any intelligent human being ask or care?

I'm gay, not that I'd normally mention it bluntly here - apart from whinging that my girlfriend hates surfing. Having said that and since we're on topic there's a movie just been made called 'Out in the Line Up' about how being gay has affected a number of pro surfers. It's meant to be very good, but was sold out at the only screening near here so I haven't had the chance to check it out.

It will be a great day when hetero, gay, or anything in between is a non issue across the world in any way.
For surfers the issue would them be getting non surfers to understand the quest for surf :woot:
Maybe even the surf craft prejudices might disappear! :D

I wonder if we'll get that film in Australia. May not be macho enough for the typical audience, but would be an interesting film highlighting something that is often not talked about much.

Jimi, I imagine you will as I think it is an Australian made film (certainly if you donate then that is taken in Aussie Dollars)

I have to admit to a bit of naivety about this though. I am more than a little surprised to hear that there is or has been that level of prejudice within a sport that is based on the ideals of acceptance and freedom. I hope, although I am probably wrong, that most of the homophobia came from the coporations who sponsor the riders and not from the fellow surfers. But then I still struggle to understand why anybody would care what an individuals sexuality is.

I am definitely looking forward to the release of this movie and will certainly be watching it.

Nickyb is in Australia and near a surf hub so she saw it here.
I also wonder on normal demographics how many of any such macho audience would be gay or bisexual!

Yes! It was shown... oh, I can't remember now, somewhere in Sydney... last week. Some friends of mine went to see it.
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

Bi-Surfers, I know some, no issue . . . as long as we all have a good time and as long as we look after each other from the 12Century jihadist renascence (oooh, where did that come from!) who cares !
