I just have got my new board but not sure if it too small

Postby Nnoo » Tue Feb 18, 2014 5:11 am

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and surfing as well.

My height is 183 cm and 73 Kilos weight.

I got my first big short board for 2 months ago measurement 6'10 *21 * 27/8. I have surfed with it several times but I feel that the board is too big for me and it is so hard to duck diving too.

However, I just bought a second hand surf board which is smaller than the one I currently have. The measurement is 6'2*18 1/2*25/16.

I personally feel that it might be too small for me.

Do you guys reckon that I will be able to surf on the new board I just have got?

Thanks so much for your kindly thoughts :D :D .

Why do you think your first board was too big for you?
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

You're a new surfer, you've surfed with a board several times!
Based on that you think it might be too big!!!!
You can't duck dive it, so you buy another board you think might be too small!!!!!!
I'd be ask just what are your expectations of what you can achieve at this stage?????????
The first board is not what I'd recommend as a first board, too small, second even too smaller!!!
Get your skills up on the first board or something longer :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:
Read all the posts on this matter over and over, understanding may come a lot cheaper than buying boards without a clue! Blunt but true. Sorry.
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

Can't argue with Uncle jaffa on that one.
Stop buying boards, learn your craft on the board you already have, or better yet sell both and buy yourself a mini-mal and LEARN to surf on that then step down to a shorter board when you are ready.

Yea - I agree with above posts. A 6'10 is a fun-sized board - one of the things that you will learn about surfing is that almost any board is surf-able, it just depends on the conditions.
I would advise getting a longer funboard (perhaps, 8.5 feet like mine) or a full-blown longboard. These are easy to learn on and, especially with funboards, you can ride on anything from glass to mush to barrels.

Cheers!
