Damage valuation

Hi guys,
I'm currently searching for an used board and found a NSP funboard, what is a little damaged.
Got these pictures:

The ding is about 2mm deep.

Do you think the board already absorbed water/ the damage is "serious"?
What should I look for when I see it on the spot? Or do you think I shouldn't consider buying it at all?

You'd probably do better sending those pics to a local shaper/repairer for an estimate.

If there is water damage then the foam will discolour (yellow or brownish usually). It looks already repaired, so you cant really tell; but the foam under the glass near the repair still looks white.

A properly repaired board is no issue - it will be as strong or stronger than the original. And a repair at that location has no structural risks. Dings are part of surfing, most boards have them.

Its a bit hard to tell from the photo, but the repair looks pretty well done (or is it unrepaired and i'm just seeing a scrape?)

When you are looking, look for any discolouration or soft spots around the repair; check that the repair is solid (doesnt wiggle around or anything), that there are no gaps between the repair and the rest of the board (that may let water in). If everything looks good, then use the repair to knock the price down but dont worry about it. If you are concerned, then either dont buy it or see if you can get a repairer to give an opinion as suggested (most local surf shops will be able to do this).

Scrape looks pretty fresh so it may not yellow immediately. Also, instead of an actual cut into the board, that looks as if it was scraped against concrete or asphalt so it will be hard to tell if it went all the way through. Its a tough call but if you go and see the board, rub your finger across the back and you should be able to feel a tangible difference if the gash goes down to the foam. If it does, a local repair guy could fix it but that will cost ya. If the board is cheap dont bother and find another to buy
