Philippines in february

Postby Jaspers » Sat Dec 07, 2013 6:53 am

Hey guys,

I stay currently in China and meet my girlfriend in Thailand end of February next year. Between end of January and my trip to Thailand I have some spare time and plan to go surfing somewhere in Asia. I did some research and the Philippines seem to be a good choice according to weather, price and swell. I have been surfing a couple of times, I think I am something between beginner and intermediate. Do you think the Philippines are a good choice for me?

As I read their are basically two surfing areas in the Philippines, Siargao and Luzon. Can you give me advice which is better at that time of the year, whats going on there etc? I don´t want to take surfing lessons, but need to rent a board and nice accommodation. Hope somebody has some useful tips!

Thank you :)

From my knowledge both places take some fair amount of travelling overland and connections are poor (but i may be wrong)

If you are in china, Head down to hainan or go to Tai Long Wan, Hong Kong both should be really consistent this time of year

Thanks for the tip! I am also looking for some nice beaches to relax a little, so I think Hong Kong is definitely to cold at this time and Hainan may be a little cold as well? Also I am not sure if I can extend my visa.

Since I have enough time, I don´t have a problem with a little difficult adventurous travelling through the Philippines ;) as long as the destination is worth it :)

Well, in reality the Philli's is not that far from Hong Kong, I reacon you will still need a spring suit for there.

My friends recently traveled from the north to south and said it was a stunning country with many beautiful sights :).

I am currently on a 7 week trip in Australia, out last 4 weeks are being spent traveling the pacific highway and surfing along the way, nice and hot, consistent surf no matter where you go and lots of totty to look at ;)

At least the temperatures outside the water are higher ;)

Australia would be a blast but I don´t have the money to get their (and stay there for a month...)
