attitude is everything

Just some thoughts for all of us: for those who know ths stuff fine, but I am offering this for people who need to improve awareness.

Surfing is embraced by diverse people and conditions are highly variable.
Some surf locations are bounded by strong local cultures and others less so.
We might not like or agree with these attitudes but they exist...

Our role as surfers includes using our energy surfing to the best of ability and minimise energy spent on challenging cultural attitudes.

Surfing to the best of our ability is like the pursuit of self mastery....So the first goal needs to be a well developed attitude because a well developed attitude underpins subsequent decisions.

decisons include whether to enter the water in the first place and how will you surf given the conditions at hand.

Zealousness needs to be kept in check

impetuous behaviour can place other people and yourself at vrisk

These things when combined can cause direct frustration to other surfers....

So the first thing to contantly work on at all times is 'attitude', in and out of the water...
