Surf Trips

Hey guys,
I am planning a surf trip for next summer in Bali and I need your help. My criteria is this: safe and affordable housing (living with locals if possible), great surf, cultural education, and great surf (did I say that already?).

My questions are:
What are some great places in Bali to search for a progressive beginner like me?
What are some experiences you have had surfing abroad?
Did you room with other fellow travel surfers or by yourself?
Are surf camps any help for surf trips?

Not sure that Bali is the best place to meet those criteria...There are a few previous threads on Bali, Bali for beginners and other places around Indo. Plug 'Bali' into the message search function and I think there have been several over the past 6 months or so; no need to read the really old ones unless you want to.

Hi,
I am not sure what your summer is, as our summer is Dec-Feb downunder, if you mean the Northern Hemisphere summer June-Aug, then Bali is NOT a good place to go as a beginner because your options to get in the water will be extremely limited, as it is the main swell season where most surfers on the planet come to Bali to surf solid waves.
