Where's the best places for a beginner to surf a long board who's living in West Los Angeles?

I would try RAT beach on a small day. This break is protected from wind and generally blocked off to most swell, so its nice and small. A lot of people learn here. They just upgraded the cams for Torrance on surfline so you can check pretty easily. That might be a bit far so el porto would also be good but make sure its small. good luck
