Five? Never heard of that many before. I'm not sure if there any advantages to that. It may make the board go straighter and harder to turn but I don't think I would put five fins on my board. I only have one.

Aloha!

Are you sure it's not a Rusty C-5?
A failed experiment with canard fins from several years ago. Not sure if they still make them. See very few in the water, the one in a local shop here remains unsold after 2 years....

There is no advantage with five fins, it just uses several very small canard fins to alter the water flow around the outer fins.

I believe (from reading the writings of swaylocians etc) the Mandala Quad design is a better answer to the same question.

Could be a Bonzer Board :? which have 5 fins and surf differently due to not having to go rail to rail as you always have power off the centre fin but turning radius is bigger due to extra speed 8) .
They do take time to get used to but absolutely fly when sussed. Apparently the board needs to be the correct size for you or it just won't work at all...

i think it is the rusty c5 because i know it is a rusty board and well... theres a graphic that says C5. the places where fins normally go (the three normal placed ones)are all the same size just to add some info.
He is 6 foot and its a 6'4" board do u know if thats the right size

depends on how fat he is I guess. Rusty say to ride em 4-6 inches shorter than your normal shortboard...if ever there was such a thing. they're intended to be a hybrid small wave board, so if it floats & doesn't bog down in 1-2 foot mush...then it's big enough I guess. Who knows.

I am lucky enough to have found a Bonzer 5 fin moonlight hand crafted by malcolm. Its about 40 years old and in very good con with original signed centre fin. It surfs like a beast! Very fast and great turning capabilities!! Anyone know what it might be worth?
