Fin plug repair question

Postby Buttertoes » Tue Jul 16, 2013 4:22 pm

Hi again... I recently bought and fixed up a used fibreglass board and was just starting to get a feel for it. Last trip out I managed to break the centre fin, the plastic mount plug and ripped up a hunk of glass!

Am biting off more than I can chew thinking I can fix this myself? Can I re-glue the plastic around the black fin plug or do I need a new piece? Can I just cut the glass sheet to fit around the plugs or do I need to glass it over completely and cut new holes? It's hard to see, but there is a hairline crack in the white plastic of the "not broken" plug. Should I dab a little resin on it?

I thought I was taking care of this board. I have probably had it out 8 times since I bought it. I chipped the nose the other day, and now this. Are glass boards just that delicate? should I expect to be repairing it regularly or am I an unnatural clutz??
