Should I get this board?

Postby vabeachsurf » Sat Jul 13, 2013 6:31 pm

I learned how to surf recently on an 8' foam top board and I want a board I can progress on. I'm 6'0 150lbs should I get the 6'10 bic ecomp? Or should I try to get a wrv? Or a bic Malibu 7'3?
Any input helps thanks.

foam tops have more float than traditional fiberglass boards. The shorter a fiberglass board is, the less it floats. Less float could be frustrating for you. Can you try or rent these boards? Maybe they will work for you. However, most beginners, including your size, are best off with a 9 foot fiberglass board. Let me know how this plays out. OK?

Hey vabeachsurf, welcome to the forum!

I agree with Billie...the consensus is to go long and wide but as he said, try renting various boards and sizes to get a feel of what may work for you.

Good luck!
