Solution to my problems?

Postby Surfing22 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:47 am

I have been surfing for over a year now, and have been surfing a 6 8 fish for atleast 11 months now. I started out with a 8 6 bic and changed to a 6 8 fish in a matter of months because I wanted to be one of those shortboarders making those awesome bottom turns and rad cutbacks. Along with the fish came alot of problems (as you can tell from all the questions I have asked on this forum.) There are some waves that I catch and ride down the face and its the best feeling ever. But then there are some waves where I cant pop up fast enough and destroy me. I can get out to the lineup and catch waves by myself no problem. But my question is should I stick with my 6 8 where sometimes my pop up is off and I fall off, or should I resort back to my 8 6 bic? Also is it easier to pop up on a longboard like my 8 6 bic?

You have the solution and way of gaining understanding in your choices, try the 8'6" and then try the 6'8" enlightenment will come.
you fell for the fashion trick of believing the board does the turns not the surfer.
get your wave catching and pop up going the rest comes from surf time.
Go figure out what works for you, not for anyone else

One final thing there have been replies to your posts have you read them and gone to the links given?

Yes I have watched every youtube video, and tried applying every comment when surfing. It seems like there is alot less marigin for error on the 6 8 during the pop up. Bad foot placement or anything can ruin your ride. I think im going to go back to the 8 6 and once I perfect my pop up I will go back to the 6 8. Thanks for the great advice youve givin me since joining the forum Jaffa!!!

surfing 22, your pop would be much easier on a bigger board that may have a flatter deck and that is reasonably wide. the width offers more stability. So your 8.6 would be way easier that the 6.8...
