Hi there,
I live in Noosa, 130km north of Brisbane and I surf in a springsuit most winter days, only when it's overcast and the winds are really strong, I go into a 3/2 steamer (I feel the cold though and some people are happy in a springsuit on the coldest days). The further north you go, the warmer the water gets. Noosa is the northern most point where you can surf (with consistency) on the coast. They say they have waves in Agnes Waters/1770 (which is the start of the Great Barrier Reef) but that's not very often. June-August is our winter. The nights are chilly and can go as low as 0 degrees some years but the days are usually around the 18-20 degree mark. It is also our beach break time, the points do not usually work but the beache break are super fun around that time of the year and you have fewer crowds.
If you need any help in/around Noosa, let me know.
