Question Asked a Million Times

Postby Paulg » Tue Feb 05, 2013 9:29 am

Hello surfing guru's, I'm Paul. Sorry to post what must be a re-occurring topic for my first post. I've recently bought my first board after mastering the art of standing up in whitewater on a gigantic foam board! I went for a 7’0 x 21’1/2 x 2’3/4 HB Monster fish. Im 6ft and weigh 90kg. Ive used this board on 3 occasions and have struggled to pop up in a smooth motion if at all. My question is....is this operator error alone or should I have gone for a different board being a noob. Fwiw im 30 and fairly fit. I understand its a pretty vague question but in general would that board suit a beginner?

Thanks

Looking forward gaining more valuable info from this site.

i know what ur feeling, i think the board may be slightly small, to be fair it depends how many times a week u surf, im 100k an 6'3", 44 an v fit, my first board ws an 8'6" nsp (i know), i surf 3 times a week, it still took me a wile to suss all the variables out before i got anywhere near the weight distribution issues, the timing and quality of the pop up is a huge help at the start and for that you need a forgiving board.
good luck tho im a newbie myself
