Need help to decide on a wetsuit

Postby kochel » Tue Jan 22, 2013 3:49 pm

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a 3/2 wetsuit, so after evaluating prices, reviews, brands and friends advice, the initial set was reduced to these two: The Rip Curl Dawn Patrol (pleasuresports.com/ripcurl-dawn-patrol-mens-wetsuit-3-2-gbs-wsuxdm.html) and the O'Neill Epic 2 CT (pleasuresports.com/oneill-mens-epic2-32.html).
Can you help me decide wich one is "better" ? I know this question is kinda tricky, as both wetsuits are great and have their own advantages, but I need something to make up my mind. Any subtle difference o characteristic you can mention would help me a lot. I understand the Dawn Patrol is newer, as a 2012/2013 model has been released recently. The Epic 2 on the other hand has been the same for two or three years, but I can be wrong.

Thanks.

Whichever one fits better.

It might not sound like an answer, but all wetsuits are 'cut' differently. Even though the charts say they will fit a certain size, some will fit certain body shapes better than others. For example, Xcel is better for broader shoulders (and O'Neill, I gather); others are better for narrow builds.

The O'Neill is 'extra stretch' and the Rip Curl has the quick dry liner. So do you need extra stretch or a wetsuit that dries quicker (although remember only the chest area dries, the rest of the wetsuit is the same as all the rest).
