I feel sad for those who lose the initial joy and wonder, they may be better at surfing but something goes missing in action.
Keep your stoke throughout the new year and your surfing journey!

congratulations deegan, nice one, great feeling it is.
i had my first surf of the new year today, (donegal, ire) and conditions were very messy but on my last wave i managed to cut sideways across the wave by using a bottomturn for the very first time, (im surfin 6 months) it lasted about ten secs but felt so much longer. i stayed until my arms wouldnt work after that so believe me deegan, i feel ure stoke.
i have no one else to tell about this as i live an hour inland an every1 thinks im mental surfin during the winter in ireland, but i had to tell someone, i am now going for a celebratory guiness

As i say it was my first time to do it, an i felt the same as u were describing.
I love the way the experienced surfers on here still share that stoke that we as beginners get.
Cant wait to get back out now
