have trouble turning

Postby derrdic3 » Wed Oct 10, 2012 7:26 am

been learning to surf the last few weeks and am able to stand on a (semi) consistent basis but after i am able to stand up on a wave i find it very hard to turn as i just end up tipping over or lose balance as i try and maneuver the board to the side.. maybe when i paddle into the wave i need to go at an angle and not straight into shore? i am sure most of it prolly has to do with my experience level as i am still learning each time i go out.

btw im using about a 7'8 board if that helps

This will get you heading down the line, should cut out any pearling, and it's a good habit to get into. It probably won't help you with your turns though.
My first thought about your turn, make sure you have your back foot right back over the fins. It may just solve your problem.
