"big boy" shortboard

Postby pmcaero » Wed Sep 05, 2012 2:29 pm

So I just got this cheap board. Pic in thread here: https://surfing-waves.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=20486
Performance wise, due to my lack of repair experience and the several dings I filled pretty roughly, probably it won't shine.
It's 7'4" long, I'm in the North East and pretty much all my surfing experience is riding my 7'9" BIC funboard.
This seems to me like a shortboard built for a big guy. I'm 5'8" and 160 lbs. What can I expect (not taken it out yet, need to add fins)? Any tips on handling this board?

happy to report that I was able to catch some waist high green waves today. The board is actually probably heavier than it used to be, with the repairs.
